UCS Technologies

Delivering an extensive rebrand to modernise UCS Technologies, with an all new web presence and marketing strategy for their flagship company and its sub brands.

With no current website, we were able to build a brand new site from the ground up. Which included bespoke icons, spot illustrations and pop up contact form. The website is suitable for the company's sub brands with the colours and content being updated to create a new site for UCS Renewables.

 

The Brief

The old UCS brand was outdated and in need of a fresh start in order for the company to compete against the new companies in the area. The brief would also cover a new marketing plan and online presence for the company.

Approach

Following an introductory workshop, we were able to determine a new direction and name for the company, along with a new strap line, company ethos, and customer promise. The brief also includes plans for an all-new marketing strategy and online presence.

Various ideas were considered for the new logo, including monograms, isometric styles, and abstract initials. The final logo was designed based on the intricate details seen in computer chips or wiring.

Logo design and Development

We went through dozens of variations before we landed on the chosen logo. With ideas ranging from simple glyphs, to isometric styles and abstract initials.

The idea behind the logo is based on the complexity of technology such as computer chips or wiring. Designed to be simple and able to be scaled down without losing clarity, the icon can also be used to represent the sub brands. While developing the overall look and feel, we also created bespoke initials to use alongside the logo.

 

UCS Renewables

From the beginning, the UCS logo would need to work with several existing sub brands. The brand would need to be versatile to accommodate different text and colours, as the different colours are able to work with the logo in a variety of layouts with or without text.

The Renewables sub brand was a very early adopter of EV charging technology, so we created it’s own logo for the product influenced by the existing UCS icon.

 

Online Experience

With no current website for UCS Technologies, we were able to build a brand new website from the ground up. Which included bespoke icons, spot illustrations and a unique contact solution. Similar to the branding, the website is suitable for the company's sub brands with the colours and content being altered to create a brand new site.

 

Responsive Design

We utilised the new brand and icon designs to create a responsive website, complete with icon animations, drop downs and an bespoke mobile navigation.

We aimed for a unique colour palette for the brand and website while maintaining a cohesive style. The full website includes pages for services, sectors, about the company and a blog section.

 
 

We also created a set of bespoke icons for the services and sectors. The icons can be carried over to a variety of digital and print assets. And to expand upon the new icons, I applied the same style to a set of more detailed illustrations.
