The Brief
Waterman’s Solicitors, one of the Scotland’s leading personal injury and property solicitors, were looking to refresh their online presence by combining their two existing sites into one. These were the property and solicitors websites that both felt outdated and off brand.
Waterman’s were also going through a full rebrand, which consisted of new messaging aiming to be more approachable without the jargon you would see from a typical solicitors.
Project Discovery and Approach
Following the project discovery and immersion session the sitemap was created the establish the breadth of the service offering. The new website would be a combination of property, injury and solicitors website, plus would need to include a section for help and advice.

UI/UX, Website design
Wireframing and page structure
To provide clear information to the user, we split the content into the ‘Short of it’ and the ‘Long of it’ . The ‘Short of it’ section would give a bulleted list for information such as the personal injury claims, with links to relevant pages and a testimonial. Below this is the ‘Long of it’ that provides the in depth content, that would also allow the page to rank in google search.
Design and Approach
The homepage features a search for users to find a relevant page from Waterman’s service offering of personal injury, property or family law. As we established during the project discovery the website would include nearly 80 service pages.
We aimed to avoid what we see on a typical solicitor website, by using friendly and warm imagery coupled with the new branding aiming to put people first.
Landing page
This has been designed to include links to the key areas of the site:
A search in the home hero that allows users to filter by service area to find their desired page more easily.
Bullet points that breaks down what makes Waterman’s unique alongside a customer testimonial.
Links to the about and meet the team pages. This includes profiles for the Waterman’s directors and team members.
Contact form alongside Waterman’s USPs.
Articles providing help and advice without the jargon.
Claims calculator
A key feature carried over from the previous website, but redesigned to improve the number of enquiries while made to be mobile friendly. The calculator will give the user an estimate for their potential claim, followed by a contact form to request a callback. The first step gives the option to click on an image of person, with text fields to provide more detailed information about the claim.
Further down the page has the in depth information about making a claim to allow the page to rank in search. Plus a simple breakdown of the claims process with a link to the full page.
